For over two decades, Shahar has dedicated himself to teaching and practicing Taijiquan and Qigong in Shanghai and internationally. His foundation began at the Shanghai University of Sport, where he earned his degree in Physical Education and Chinese Martial Arts, specializing in Taijiquan, Qigong, and San Da.

During his time in Shanghai, Shahar spent more than a decade training intensively under Master Xie Ye Lei. Through this direct transmission of knowledge, he became Master Xie's successor and a fourth-generation member of Hong lineage Chen-style Taijiquan.

While in China, Shahar competed successfully in various martial arts competitions across the country, with notable results being third place in Pushing Hands in both Hong Kong and Shandong, and claiming first place in a sword competition at Taishan, Shandong.
